U.S. Air Force to Deploy Five Global Hawk UAVs to Japan

The US Air Force (USAF) plans to deploy five Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and approximately 105 personnel, currently based at Andersen Air Force Base on Guam, to Yokota Air Base in Japan from May to October 2017.

The USAF said in a 7 April statement that summer operations from Guam of the high-altitude, long-endurance surveillance UAV are "adversely impacted by the frequency of inclement weather, including typhoon activities".
